We've all been there. You're circling a parking lot for what feels like an hour, searching for that last remaining spot in the festival lot or outside of a Black Friday sale. And then suddenly, you see it, a gleaming piece of blank tarmac just waiting for your vehicle to occupy it. Except when you get there you find that the cars in the adjacent spaces have parked as though they are the only two cars in the world, and you know you'll never be able to open the doors to get out if you slip your car into that gap. So how exactly does it work? Start by approaching the parking space while behind the wheel. Once you're approximately lined up with the gap, get out with your remote in hand. Simply press the forward button, and your Hyundai will pull into the space with ease.
But How Does Smart Park Avoid Hitting Something?
The same system that lets your Hyundai know when you're approaching a vehicle too quickly or you're about to hit a pedestrian also instructs the Smart Park system. It knows where the corners of your vehicle are, and will make steering adjustments to center you in the open parking space automatically. It can even sense when someone steps in front of the vehicle and brings it to a stop to avoid the collision.
